Patient revisit by Doctor

Dr. Pham Chi Lang, Head of the Orthopedic Department of CIH said “patient with damaged cartilage along with a partial tear of ACL should be treated. Unrepaired ACL tears might lead to further knee damage. At that time, treatment will become more difficult.”

Morning January 18th, 2019, Dr. Pham Chi Lang visited and instructed patients to fold their knees and exercises for the quadriceps femoris muscle to help the knee recover quickly.

Monk P.T shared: “a few years ago, tripped falling down the stairs and landed on my knee, causing considerable damage. Later, every time I stretched my legs, I had to constantly use ice to ease the pain. Recently, due to walking a lot and worsened the pain, accompanied by a loud “pop” or a “popping” sensation in the knee so I go to the Orthopedic Department of City International Hospital.”

“Anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) often leads to problems with knee function. For example, an ACL tear often occurs along with tears to the MCL and the shock-absorbing cartilage in the knee (meniscus). The anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) rupture is one of the most common knee injuries in sports, which is often the result of a sudden change in direction, pivoting, sudden stopping, or jumping....” Dr. Pham Chi Lang added.

What can we do?

Activate the right muscles during exercises

  • Use proper techniques when playing sports or exercising.
  • Build muscle with strengthening-exercises to reduce stress placed on the ACL. This involves a series of warm up exercises and jumping drills.

Eat a well-balanced diet

  • Concentrate on drinking enough water and eating a well-balanced diet, including fruits, vegetables, low-fat proteins and whole grains.
