What is hemodialysis?

In hemodialysis, an artificial kidney (hemodialyzer) is used to remove waste and extra chemicals and fluid from your blood. To get your blood into the artificial kidney, the doctor needs to make an access (entrance) into your blood vessels. This is done by minor surgery to your arm or leg. Sometimes, an access is made by joining an artery to a vein under your skin to make a bigger blood vessel called a fistula.

However, if your blood vessels are not adequate for a fistula, the doctor may use a soft plastic tube to join an artery and a vein under your skin. This is called a graft.

Occasionally, an access is made by means of a narrow plastic tube, called a catheter, which is inserted into a large vein in your neck. This type of access may be temporary, but is sometimes used for long-term treatment.

Get enough night sleep: Make sure you get eight hours of sleep a day to support the body's process of getting rid of toxins.

Stop smoking: Tobacco increases the number of white blood cells, making your body tired by fighting infections and the effects of chemicals, which means that you are more likely to get sick leading to disorders immune system. If you smoke, talk to your doctor about how to quit.

Frequent handwash: Wash your hands after handling other people or the sick. This helps you avoid the risk of infection or infection.

Application of regular health insurance cards for patients of the Artificial kidney Unit at City International Hospital for outpatient and inpatient treatment.

Benefits:

Routing: 100%; 95%; 80% (depending on the subject on the prescribed health insurance card code) on the health insurance price bracket. Currently, the maximum limit provided by the health insurance for a dialysis is 543,000 VND.

Patient Rights:

Participants will be entitled to health insurance benefits according to the state health insurance price bracket. The difference in services such as: examination, testing, surgery, treatment services ... people with health insurance cards must pay with the hospital themselves.

For services not on the list of health insurance, patients will pay according to the hospital fee prescribed.

Medication benefits:

Health insurance drugs: Drugs on the list of health insurance, patients only pay the co-pay and the hospital will collect an additional 10% management fee.
The drug is not on the list of health insurance: patients will pay for the drug at the prescribed hospital fee.
Note:
Health insurance does not pay for all health checkups, screenings and shots.
At the time of examination, the patient must present the Health Insurance Card and identification documents (Identity Card, Driver's License, Passport)

Can I travel while on dialysis?

Usually, after a few months you will get used to the dialysis process. If you are concerned about treatment affecting your personal life, this is quite normal. With the recovery, advice and support from your family, you can overcome the difficulties you are facing and gradually adjust to the dialysis process. With good treatment, you can still live and work normally like everyone else and can travel with the condition that you only need to maintain dialysis.
