We are living in times of uncertainty right now. Many parents are reluctant to let their children out of the house, worrying about their health. The fear is very much understood, but it also distorts sensible judgement.

Some parents, out of fear, choose to postpone their babies’ vaccinations to another time (which we don’t really know how long it will be) and leave their children vulnerable to infections much worse than the Corona virus. Pertussis, Haemophilus, Pneumococcus, Diphtheria, and Measles - these are infections which can have devastating consequences for babies and children: Meningitis, Encephalitis, Pneumonia, Airway obstruction, Severe neurological damage, Paralysis and death.

Skipping or delaying vaccinations can be harmful

If the number of vaccinated babies and children drop down significantly - the risk of outbreaks of these serious infections rises! Take for example the recent Measles outbreak, caused by the fact many babies were unvaccinated and the Measles rapidly spread among them.

In our hospital, as well I’m sure as in all other clinics and hospitals, measures are taken to prevent contact with suspected Covid-19 patients. It is safe for parents to bring their babies to get their vaccinations on the proper time, to keep them safe and healthy. If you are still worried, you can call the hospital in advance and come during times the clinic has few patients.

At City International Hospital, the doctors and technicians are very gentle and careful.
