August 20, 2018, City International Hospital successfully operated Surgery for Hirschsprung's Disease for a two month-old boy Huynh Tan Thuan, in Mang Thit, Vinh Long Province.

Before the surgery, Ms. Ly Ngoc Thanh - mother of the 2 month-old patient (34 years old, living in Cho hamlet, Nhon Phu commune, Mang Thit district, Vinh Long province) desperately  brought her son from their far-away  hometown  to Ho Chi Minh City seeking for urgent medical help. Patient Thuan was in a very bad condition having to suffer from many congenital diseases: malnutrition, colitis, congenital aneurysm, cleft lips, cleft palate ... City International Hospital has provided a full cost off medical treatment to help saving the boy’s life.

Our hospital has provided the boy with medical treatment, helped to improve the baby’s general condition, in 3 weeks from 2.2 to 3.2 kilograms), the health of the baby is quite up so today we have performed surgery for Hirschsprung Disease. August 20 -Successful Surgery for Hirschsprung’s Disease

Main surgeon- Nguyen Kinh Bang said: "By cutting the intestinal gut and reducing the colon through the anus, the team performed a 15 centimeter cut of the intestinal gut for Thuan. Neonatal pertussis surgery is a difficult operation, requiring a surgeon as well as anesthesia resuscitation to have a lot of experience; otherwise it will leave many complications dangerous, over a period of more than one hour. Operation team and rhythm coordination was quite smooth. At present, the baby is breathing, feeding by intravenous. The doctor will continue to monitor and take care of the postoperative and will feed back by mouth after 24 hours if convenient. "

It is known that City International Hospital will continue post-operative care and when the health of the baby gets  much improved, surgery for cleft lip and cleft lip cleft will be conducted with the combination between the hospital and the group (Operation Smile Vietnam.)

Hirschsprung’s disease, a rare congenital condition in which neural signaling to the colon is missing. In a child with Hirschsprung’s disease, stool moves through the bowel until it reaches the part lacking nerve cells. At that point, the stool moves slowly or stops.

The main signs and symptoms of Hirschsprung’s disease are constipation or intestinal obstruction, usually appearing shortly after birth. Symptoms can vary but can include swelling of the abdomen, or belly, unexplained fever, vomiting, and growth failure.

If your child has any of the signs or symptoms listed above or have any questions, please consult your doctor. Each person is different. So consult your doctor to select the most suitable option.

Untreated Hirschsprung’s disease can be severely leading to death, so seek medical helps as soon as possible.
