We talked about the science of breastfeeding as well as the emotional aspects of learning the art and gift of feeding your baby. Feeding, pumping, storing breast milk, dealing with challenges, burping, gas, and nursing positions was all be covered in the seminar.

Many problems and concerned has kindly been discussed between the audience and our medical expert and all of them has been carefully explained and professionally consulted by Dr. Kim Xuyen.which gave piece of mind to the audience

Ms. Nguyen Thi Kieu Oanh (District 6, HCMC) she got a blocked milk duct or mastitis 2 months after childbirth, the surface of your breast may be tender or hot to touch and has been seeking for help.

Ms. Le Thanh Tam (District 7, HCMC) asks: How Long Should Mothers Breastfeed? I’m still breastfeeding my 3-year-old son, is this good for baby and mother or not?"

Answering this question, Dr. Xuyen shared: "Mom should breastfeed for at least the first 6 months of life. After one year, the mother can now eat a lot of nutrients; some are beneficial for baby while some others are not. Therefore, breastfeeding after one year of age is necessary, but the mother needs to provide the beneficial nutrients to ensure that the baby is nutritionally adequate for her age."

“What are the best ways to storing, freeze and thaw breast milk?” asked Nguyen Thi Hien (Binh Tan District)

Dr. Xuyen: “Expressed breast milk is the best food for your baby to have when you’re not there. you can express your breast milk and store it for your baby to have when you’re not around.  Freezing breast milk isn’t complicated, but following a few guidelines will ensure your milk is safe:  clean conditions on cleaning and sanitizing your breast pump and if you’re refrigerating or freezing expressed milk, always label the bottles or bags with the amount and the date it was pumped, so you can track and manage your stored milk.. To thaw milk: Thaw slowly in the refrigerator (this takes about 12 hours – try putting it in the fridge the night before you need it). Avoid letting milk sit out at room temperature to thaw. For quicker thawing, hold container under running water – start cool and gradually increase temperature. Do not absolutely put in hot water, or re-use leftover milk to avoid losing nutrition.

Breastfeeding helps increase resistance, fight infections. Breast milk is high in nutrients and contains many antibacterial proteins. Through the prenatal Breastfeeding class, many mothers and their families learned valuable lessons to take care of their children's full development.

In addition, Our nurses also also gave instructions on baby bathing, posturing, and pregnancy yoga to help mothers relax and gain piece off mind. Especially, City International Hospital special offers for mothers when giving birth at the hospital which were 5% discount on maternity package including regular pregnancy tests , delivery and total recovery care and one night staying in the hospital.
