Breast cancer is major problem being faced by thousands of women across the world. Breast cancer is the fourth leading cause of cancer mortality among females, with 15,000 new cases of breast cancer detected; 6,000 estimated mortalities recorded in Vietnam in 2018. There are various forms of treatment for breast cancer, treatment is primarily dependent upon the type and stage of the cancer. Current therapeutic strategies include surgery, radiotherapy and adjuvant chemotherapies and hormonal therapies.
Once detected, it is generally difficult to be controlled and stopped from spreading to further stages, primarily because of its late detection. There is a need to generate awareness among women about this deadly disease. Breast cancer is an increasingly common disease that is easily detectable, potentially curable but lethal if left ignored till late.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, which is an area particularly close to our hearts. In honor of Vietnam Women's Day - October 20 and the Breast Cancer Prevention Program, City International Hospital organizes a Women's Health Program, theme "Healthy is Beautiful" to promote the education and awareness of Breast Cancer so that our communities can be aware of all types of breast cancers, especially the more aggressive ones.
