Over 1 in 10 adult individuals has kidney disease! The number of kidney failure cases has more than tripled since 1990 and is expected to grow because of an aging population!

Vietnam, with a population of some 95 million, currently has more than 5 million kidney failure sufferers, local media reported on May 3 (2018). Chronic kidney disease (CKD), or chronic renal failure as it is also known, is a growing burden for many Vietnamese families.

Hemodialysis is an increasingly common treatment in Vietnam as the diagnosis of end stage renal disease continues to rise. To provide appropriate hemodialysis treatment for end-stage renal disease patients, we conducted a 1-year cross-sectional study to measure the prevalence of blood borne infection and factors associated with non-compliant behaviors in hemodialysis patients.

Early kidney disease has no signs or symptoms. Kidney disease can affect people of all ages and races. African Americans, Hispanics, and Native American tend to have a greater risk for kidney failure. This is mostly due to higher rates of diabetes and high blood pressure.  High Blood pressure and Diabetes are the two main causes of kidney disease. Know the warning signs of kidney disease and get tested.
