Endoscopy was first introduced in Vietnam by A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tan Cuong. Beyond being known as the father of the national Endoscopy, he - CIH’s brilliant surgeon has been excellently playing a pioneering role in fearlessly and entirely taking on each and every of his patient’s journey and fight until he wins the Battles of Life for more than 40 years. To his medical students as well as patients, Dr. Nguyen Tan Cuong is an important source of inspiration and a significant influence on moral formation.   Having learned minimally invasive surgery from the States and Korea together with years of working, Dr. Nguyen Tan Cuong was determined as “Vietnam’s first doctor to ever successfully performed Liver Transplant" collaborating with Asan Medical Center (Korea's largest and most preferred hospital) and was awarded Vietnam Gold Star by the Government of Vietnam.

  After getting trained overseas, Dr. Nguyen Tan Cuong with his vast knowledge got back to Vietnam with the mission of saving and improving the Quality of national healthcare. Currently, he is in charge as the Medical Director of International City Hospital, thanks to his Strong knowledge after years of studying and doing research in Vietnam and abroad. There has never been any medical invention making such great influences and profound alternative to the entire surgical industry as endoscopy has been contributing. Endoscopic surgery is much minimally invasive surgical procedure and much safer comparing to conventional open surgery. In addition, its advantage of being able to access and deal with in-depth injury with one-whole operation leaving smaller scars, less operative pain, faster recovery, shorter hospital stay, as well as contributing to reducing hospital overload."

  A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tan Cuong, CIH’s Brilliant Surgeon, has brought many "First" Imprints of the National Medical Achievements and has widened any narrowest escape for patients with unsolvable conditions. At work he’s a heroic character to many of his colleagues and to his patients, he is a life-saving fairy who brings miracle to brighten up darkness at the end of the road. That’s sure the reason why he always earns respect from his patients, creates a beautiful friendship in this lovable life. His happiness comes from each of his patient’s smiles and everybody’s living their healthy and happy life.

 Besides medical examination and curable treatment, Dr. Nguyen Tan Cuong has also published many valuable medical books for students and lectures for Vietnam Medicine and Pharmacy, in which many scientific research projects are highly appreciated and reported at scientific conferences at home and abroad. 

 With his vast knowledge in medical field, Dr. Nguyen Tan Cuong has been successfully and excellently playing a pioneering role  in Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy such as Colorectal diseases, Liver Tumors and Cysts, Liver Stones, Liver Abscess, cholelithiasis, gallstones in bile duct, pancreas removal, Splenic Tumors and Cyst, laparoscopic surgery in chest and abdominal trauma, Nerve Chest Pain to control sweat glands...

  In celebration of National Doctors’ Day on March 27, A/Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tan Cuong "As a doctor, do I actually celebrate Doctors’ Day? Do I think I should be celebrated and honored for my work? My service? My sacrifices? I think we celebrate it not for ourselves, but in deep, sometimes wordless, appreciation of our colleagues, patients and families. In recognition of the commitment and care for our patients motivating us to silently striving to improve, working on research, writing papers, gaining experiences and reaching perfection cases by cases in which we forge ahead as a collaborative battle line to improve medicine as a whole for future generations through science and education. And at the end of the day, we do not toast ourselves. We toast our colleagues, patients and families."
