First Trimester Antenatal Screening Tests - a combination of fetal ultrasound and maternal blood testing. This screening process can help determine the risk of the fetus having certain birth defects. Screening tests may be used alone or with other tests.

  • Ultrasound:.Screening for various types of malformations, to identify the baby sex, placenta in early pregnancy, to check baby's health from the beginning of pregnancy to the end of pregnancy.
  • (hCG) blood test (MarteniT21PLUS): At week 10 of pregnancy, Can measure the concentration of hCG hormone in your blood (this is useful information for your healthcare provider in tracking certain problems in pregnancy). This test can also reveal the baby's gender.
  • Amniocentesis: is a prenatal test in which a small amount of amniotic fluid is removed from the sac surrounding the fetus for testing. This invasive test can diagnose certain birth defects and genetic conditions in your baby.
  • Chorionic villus sampling (CVS): involves taking a small tissue sample from the finger-like projections of the placenta, called the chorionic villi. This sample contains the same genetic information as your baby, so it can be used to rule out chromosomal disorders.

Furthermore, what to do from second trimester until labor? All your questions and concerns will be answered on June 24 at City International Hospital GUARANTEED!

Gestational diabetes
20% of pregnant women in Vietnam experience diabetes complications during pregnancy that’s why it’s necessary for Expectant women to control gestational diabetes by eating healthy foods, and exercising.
During pregnancy, the placenta, which connects your baby to your blood supply, produces high levels of various other hormones. Almost all of them impair the action of insulin in your cells, raising your blood sugar. According to Dr. Le Minh Quang, CIH Department of General Internal Medicine/Diabetes and Genomic medicine, “Gestational diabetes needs to be monitored through blood glucose monitoring, healthy diet regimens and regular physical activities. About 10-20% of pregnant women with diabetes need extra insulin to control their blood sugar but no more after birth.

Gestational diabetes that's not carefully managed can lead to uncontrolled blood sugar levels and cause problems for you and your baby such as Excessive birth weight, Early (preterm) birth and respiratory distress syndrome or in some cases can result in a baby's death either before or shortly after birth. Excessive birth weight is more likely to become wedged in the birth canal, sustain birth injuries or require a C-section birth.”
